![]() ![]() Note to all hobbyists out there: The good piece(s) did not even get literally broken! Apart from two connectors, which were sheared off, it is possible to reassemble the car afterwards. For this purpose, new high-speed X-ray detectors (Gregor Popko and Siegfried Nau) and evaluation processes in computer vision ( Victoria Heusinger) and data assimilation ( Stefan Moser and Ines Butz) are investigated at EMI. ![]() Applying X‑ray technology to highly dynamic deformation processes is a recent development in crash research (X-ray car-crash, X-CC). But what’s new is that the interior of the vehicle becomes visible as well! In due course, we will carry out such a dynamic X‑ray crash test with a real car at our research crash-test facility. The high-speed video shows the crash in detail. At a speed of about 30 kilometers per hour, the Porsche 911 GT 3RS by LEGO® Technic careers head-on into a wall. Spectacular #X-ray video of a crash test at a frame rate of over one kilohertz delivering pin sharp pictures. ![]()
